DeBary, FL.
64 deg. rain, no wind.
Forecast = Showers and thundershowers likely. High 71F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. Locally heavy rainfall possible.
The news about Jim's lung problems continue to be good. Last Wednesday, ( the day of my last post), Lila took Jim and Linda over to the Imaging Center in Orange City, where Jim had his MRI. Jim says that unless you've had an MRI it's hard to describe what it's really like. He says it's lots of loud sounds while you're head is encased in a mask type thing and then inside of a tube.
Not real pleasant, but do-able!!! :-o
Then, in the evening, Jim went in for a radiation treatment, (with major machine setting changes), and had his treatment. As they were leaving and already out into the parking lot, Dr. Graham came running out and told Jim and Linda that, indeed, the lung had mostly inflated. The Dr. was surprised that this had happened so early in the treatment, and said that this would make zeroing in on the tumor and thus, making treatment much easier and more precise. He was very pleased, to say the least! :-)
Yesterday morning, after another radiation treatment, Jim and Linda again met with Dr. Graham and he went into more detail of the findings of the last CAT Scan. He showed them views of the lung, before and after, and explained how now the radiation treatments could now be more precisely directed to the tumor. He also noted that Jim's lung was now almost completely re-inflated and functioning quite well.
From Dr. Graham's office Lila took Jim up to Deland for a chemo treatment. Before the treatment, they met with Dr. Saferali who confirmed Dr. Graham's findings and also stated that she felt the lung was functioning quite well. :-)
Other than radiation treatments once a day, 5 days a week and chemo treatments once a week, nothing much else has been happening around here, just day-to-day living. Laura has stopped by a few times and Jim and Linda have called Joe, Mike and Jeff with the good news.
So, rather than just ramble along here, I'll leave you with this Quote to Ponder.
“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

From Tranquil to Tragedy
Rantoul, IL
61 deg. rain, W. wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast = Scattered thunderstorms this morning, then variable clouds during the afternoon with more showers at times. High 71F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Not a lot has happened since we returned here to Rantoul, last Wednesday. The CG was busy over the Holiday weekend, but the park wasn't full because, mostly, the weather forecast was for high temperatures in the mid-90's and then storms coming through the area on Labor Day. Everything went fine for the holiday though and most people just relaxed under their awnings or a shade tree. And, the forecasted storms didn't materialize in the intensity that was predicted either.
Paul and Louise, (the CG Hosts), had a cook-out on Sunday. They furnished steaks cooked on the grill and other folks brought side dishes to go along with the meat. Jim and Linda were invited, but sadly, Jim couldn't go cause he had developed a pretty bad stomach ache. :-( But, he talked Linda into going and she enjoyed the meal and the conversation with other RVers and friends that Paul and Louise had invited.
By Monday afternoon, most of the holiday campers had left and those that didn't leave on Monday, left Tuesday morning. Even by Monday afternoon it was starting to get very tranquil and the park started settling into "off-season mode". So, even though it was quite hot the first few days of the week, by Wednesday, it started cooling off somewhat, and you could actually sit outside without sweating too much.
It was Wednesday afternoon when Mike and Terri Young stopped by the CG for a night, on their way from the Freeport, IL area to Virginia. If you remember, they had stopped by here for a few days in July and it was sure good to see them again on their return trip.
And again, Big RED took them up to Monical's Pizza where they enjoyed their meals and lots of conversation. Before returning here to our site, Big RED dropped them off at their trailer, but after checking on their animals and putting some left-overs away, they walked to our site to visit some more.
Yesterday morning, Mike and Terri left early, (about 8:30), and headed East. I hope they have a great trip and hope we'll see them again, real soon.
After they left, it was such a beautiful day that Jim and Linda opened windows, doors and vents to let the fresh air in. Then, a little after noon, Louise rode up on one of the 4-wheeler ATVs that they use here at the park. Jim was sitting in his chair by the open door and asked her what was going on. Well, the news that Louise had was not good at all. It seems that earlier in the morning, Paul and Louise had received a phone call and found out that Paul's adult son, who lives in Florida, had taken his life!!!
Now, this is not a phone call that any parent wants to get!!! Don't know any details but it's almost sure that today or tomorrow, Paul and Louise will be heading down there.
He left behind a wife and 2 teenage sons.
Everyone here at the CG feels so bad for Paul. He lost a daughter that lived in Texas, just 2 years ago. I don't know what else to say except that everyone here has Paul in their prayers. He's a strong man though and Louise will be at his side throughout the ordeal.
Such Tragedy!!!!

2 Nice Surprises
Rantoul, IL.
70 deg. clear, lite fog, no wind.
Forecast = A mix of clouds and sun during the morning will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High near 90F. Winds light and variable.
Yesterday morning, the phone rang and it was Mike Young. Jim and Linda met Mike and Terri years ago at an RV Dreams rally and have been friends with them ever since. They were at the RV-Dreams reunion rally this spring and at that time they said that they may be coming through this area sometime this summer.
Well, they are and they should be getting here to the Prairie Pines Campground sometime this afternoon!!! :-) I don't know how long they'll be staying, but Mike said that they'll be here for a few days.
It'll be great to see them again and be able to visit with them to catch up on what's been happening lately.
Then, about 11:00 yesterday morning, the phone rang again and this time it was Dave. Dave and Dee Dee are part of the "Illinois Bunch" that Jim and Linda meet up with whenever they can. Dave said that they were up in Kankakee, (which is North of here), and heading home, (they live South of here near Neoga, IL). and were wondering if it would be OK if they stopped by for a visit?
Jim told Dave that they'd be here and were looking forward to them stopping for a visit.
So, , , , about 12:30 Dave and Dee Dee arrived. They were able to stay and visit for about an hour and a half. :-) It sure was good to see them again, and if everything works out, Dave and Dee Dee and Denny and Bev, (more of the "Illinois Bunch"), are planning on coming here to Prairie Pines sometime in September to camp for awhile! :-)
The weather guessers are saying that it's supposed to be quite hot and humid here today, so Jim and Linda are thinking that maybe Mike and Terri would like to go out to eat someplace instead of heating up one of the RVs to make a meal. They'll have to wait until Mike and Terri get here to see how they feel about the idea.
Did you know that on average, there area 333 squares of toilet paper on a roll?

Good News, 2/3 Of The Illinois Bunch Arrive and A Pot Luck Is Planned
Rantoul, IL
51 deg. overcast, no wind.
Forecast = A mix of clouds and sun. High 63F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph.
Since the weather was better yesterday morning than the day before, Jim and Linda didn't leave the CG until about 8:15. By a little before 9:00, (Linda's appointment time), they were in Doctor Anderson's office and being escorted back to one of the rooms where a nurse gave Linda a quick eye test. Soon, Dr. Anderson came in, checked Linda's eye and said that everything looked really good!!!
She also said that she didn't see any reason that the cataract on other eye couldn't be operated on this coming Monday!!! :-)
Good News!!!! Everything's going as planned!!! (so far).
Jim didn't have anything to eat before he and Linda went to the Doctor's office, so when they returned to Rantoul, they stopped by the Red Wheel Restaurant before coming back here to the CG. Both had the biscuits and gravy with a side order of sausage and both said that it was very good.
A little after noon, Dave and Dee Dee pulled into Prairie Pines Campground with their new Keystone Travel Trailer and their new Ford Pickup truck. This last winter, they bought a Park Model home down in Florida, so they really didn't need the big 5th wheel any longer or the big truck to pull it.
Then, about 1/2 an hour later, Denny and Bev pulled in with their Winnebago Brave MH.
(I'll get Jim to take some photos, just a soon as I can). ;-)
As I said yesterday, Gordy and Dorthy won't be coming because of Gordy's health problems, but I understand that Dorthy is planning on driving down here today, for just a day visit. Dave and Dee Dee and Denny and Bev will be staying until Monday morning. :-)
Being that Dorthy is driving down here today, a "pot luck" is being planned for today. The plan is to cook hot dogs, hamburgers and brats on a grill or over a campfire and then make the other items inside. I don't know what Linda is making but it'll probably be either a vegetable or a desert.
Should be a fun day! ;-)
Did you know that the pin that holds a hinge together is called a pintle?

Big News!!! More Big News!!! and Yet More Big News!!!
Rantoul, IL.
63 deg.overcast, E. wind @ 5 mph.
Forecast = Mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Highs around 79°F. East wind to 11 MPH. Chance of precipitation near 20%.
Big News!!!!!
While Jim and Linda were waiting for the doctor, yesterday, at Jim's eye doctor appointment, the phone rang and it was Joe, calling from Virginia Beach. Linda took the call and Joe told her that he and the 2 girls, (Sami and Amber), were leaving in an hour or so and heading to Illinois. He said that with all of them taking turns driving, he expected to be here early in the morning for a short visit!! :-) You see, they're actually coming to Illinois to go to the Gladiolus Festival in the town where he was raised, has lots of friends and his father still lives.
Well, early in the morning was an understatement!!! About 4:30 AM the phone rang and it was Joe saying that they were only about 15 miles South of here!! Jim gave him detailed instructions about how to find us in the CG and soon they were pulling up and parking next to Big RED.
Jim went out to meet them and after lots of hugs, everyone came inside where there were more hugs with Linda. ;-)
Nancy was able to get off of work, so it was a pleasant surprise to see her too!!
It was just a little after 5:00 AM when Jim took these photos so they aren't real great!!
Jim flipped the coffee pot on when he got up, so Joe and Nancy had a cup and the girls found some grapes in the fridge that they seemed to like.
Everyone was very tired after traveling all night, so after visiting for about an hour, they were on their way to Joe's father's house. Once there, they'll get some much needed sleep.
It sure was great to see them. It was only a short visit, but it had been a long time since Linda and Jim had seen Nancy, Sami and Amber. And, it did wonders for Linda's spirits. ;-) .
Now, more Big News!!!!
Jim's eye doctor appointment went very well and Dr. Anderson told him to keep on using the drops to control the glaucoma. She said that his eyes looked fine but she wants him to get scan of both eyes and also another test that I can't remember what it's called. She doesn't expect any problems though.
That, brings us to yet more Big News!!!!
I don't know if any of you are aware of it, but 2 years ago, Linda's Retinalogist, Dr. Gandhi, told her that she was starting to get cataracts in both of her eyes. Well, her vision is getting worse, so while Jim and Linda were discussing Jim's eyes with Dr. Anderson, Linda asked her if she could do the surgery and remove her cataracts while we're here in Illinois. (Dr. Anderson specializes in cataract surgery). She said that she didn't see why not and sent in the receptionist to make appointments for a pre-op check and the fist eye surgery which should be right after Linda sees Dr. Gandhi on the 22 of this month, to make sure she doesn't have any additional retina damage.
Whew!!!!!!!!
So, , , , when Linda goes to Dr. Gandhi on the 22nd, Jim will get the scan of his eyes done at Dr. Gandhi's office. And, when she goes in for the pre-op soon after that, Jim will get the other test done at Dr. Anderson's. Then, if all goes well, soon after Labor Day, Linda will have surgery on one eye and surgery on the other one a weeks or 2 later.
After returning from the Doctor's, Jim took a little nap to rest his eyes. For dinner, Linda heated up some left-over pizza. After eating, they watched TV and read until bedtime.
Did you know that today is "Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day"?

Back At The House and A Good Report
DeBary, FL.
71 deg. clear, S. wind @ 8 mph.
Forecast = Partly cloudy with afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High around 90F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
By noon on Tuesday, we were back at the house and Jim was unloading "stuff" out of Big RED. It was another hot day with temps hovering around 93 degrees, so he took his time.
About the middle of the afternoon, Dr. Saferali's office called and told Linda that the Dr. wanted her to come in on Wednesday morning for a saline transfusion because the test that they had given Linda on Thursday indicated that she was dehydrated. After explaining that she had appointment with Dr. Graham at 10:00, an appointment was made with Dr. Saferali at 11:30.
This was kind of disappointing because both Linda and Jim had planned to use Wednesday afternoon getting the house and other things ready for Joe's arrival on Thursday. :-(
So, after doing some cleaning and straightening Tuesday, Wednesday they headed to the appointment with Dr. Graham at about 9:40. Dr Graham was pleased with how Linda was doing and when they told him that they were planning on heading North to IL, NC and VA this fall and wouldn't be returning until sometime in November, he said that that wasn't a problem and he would like Linda to make an appointment to come back in for a CAT Scan when she returned to the area.
And, by the way, Dr. Graham also told Linda that the Radiation treatments that she received were very aggressive and with those treatments plus the aggressive Chemo treatments she was receiving, he really expected to find Linda to be cancer free when they did the scan. :-) :-) :-)
Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!
After leaving Dr. Graham's they had some time before Linda's appointment with Dr. Saferali, so they just drove around for awhile, looking at some of the areas of Orange City that they used to go to.
While Linda was getting the hydration transfusion Jim headed to Winn Dixie, bought some groceries, then brought them back here to the house and put most of them away. It was about 2:30 before Linda called Jim to come pick her up and about 3:00 before they returned.
The rest of the afternoon was spent putting away the rest of the groceries and relaxing.
This morning, Linda's Chemo treatment appointment is at 9:15, so she and Jim will need to leave here a little before 9:00. The treatment will take most of the day, so it will probably be late afternoon before she's finished.
Joe's flight is supposed to get in at 11:30, so by the time he gets his luggage, rents a car and drives here from Orlando, it'll probably be around 12:30 or 1:00. It sure will be good to see him again. The last time we've seen him was in November, right after Linda's surgery. ;-)
A Point to Ponder : Sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

Post-Op Doctor Visit and Not Good News
DeBary, FL.
65 deg. scattered clouds, NE wind @ 2 mph.
Forecast = Mostly cloudy, high temp. 84 deg. E. wind @ 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain, 40%.
About 8:30 yesterday morning, Laura swung by and picked up Linda and Jim. This trip was to take Linda over to the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach so that she could have a Post-Op exam and a Post-Op consultation with Dr. Molpus, the surgeon who preformed Linda's surgery.
The exam went well and the doctor was pleased with Linda's progress and the healing of the surgery incisions.
Then, came the consultation!!!
Dr. Molpus explained that the tumor had grown almost through the uterus wall and that the biopsies had for the most part come back negative. But, (And there's always a "but" isn't there?), he did remove some suspect tissue from the surrounding areas that came back positive. :-(
So, even though the final decision is Linda's, he highly recommends the she has both Chemo and Radiation therapy. :-(( This hit Linda pretty hard as she was hoping that they would only have to do the Radiation therapy.
Now, what does this all mean? Well the details will be worked out when she meets with the Chemo and Radiation people, but Dr. Molpus told her that the whole procedure would take close to 9 months with rotations between the Chemo and Radiation!!! :-O That would mean that if they wait another 4 weeks for Linda to completely heal up from the hysterectomy surgery, (which the doctor says is necessary), they would start the Chemo and Radiation sometime in December or January.
That would mean that it would be sometime during September or October before we could travel again. :-( It is possible that there will be short times between secessions, and if Linda is up to it, we might be able to go RVing for short times, but that's a very big "if"!!!
As many of you know, these treatments can be very disabling, so only time will tell if we'll be able to travel at all, or not. Jim says, "We'll do what we have to do", but right now, Linda is pretty upset about the whole thing, and I can't say I blame her. It's a big disappointment and will be a lot for her to deal with during the next 9 or 10 months.
Did you know that the first Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages were three inches wide and eighteen inches long? You made your own bandage by cutting off as much as you needed.
Woof!!!
65 deg. scattered clouds, NE wind @ 2 mph.

A Stream Runs Through It and A Some Non-News
DeBary, FL.
70 deg. light rain, no wind.
Forecast = Partly cloudy with rain showers. High of 88F. Breezy. Winds from the NE at 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20%.
We had a little excitement in the park yesterday.
You see, the gas company is in the community installing all new poly gas lines because the old ones are steel and they're pitting badley. Well, even though they have all kinds of paint marks in the grass and on the pavement, along with those little red, green, blue and yellow flags sticking up all over the place, they still managed to hit a water line and break it.
Needless to say, there was a geyser and we ended up with a stream running down the middle of the street in front of the house. The above photo is looking upstream,
and the photo below is looking downstream.
The water ran for about 1/2 an hour before they finally got it repaired. Of course there were a lot of residents out there supervising the repair. ;-)
The doctor who did all the tests about 2 weeks ago called yesterday and told Linda that even after sending the samples to Johns Hopkins, the test results were still inconclusive and they don't seem to be able to tell if there is cancer or not!!! He said that he would send all the information that he had to the other doctor and suggested that Linda set up an appointment with the doctor. When Linda told him that she already had an appointment this next Tuesday he was pleased that Linda had already done that.
So, basicly it was non-news. They sill don't know what the tumor is and Linda and Jim don't know what this next doctor will do. Linda says that it needs to come out, so lets do it and they can decide if it's cancerous or not, after it's out, and then determine if any further treatment is necessary. !!
So, it's wait!!! wait!!! wait!!! And, there's really nothing that can be done until Linda sees the doctor next Tuesday. Then, hopefully, a decision can be made and they can get this "show on the road"!!!!
To be honest, I'm a little worried about Linda. This waiting is really starting to get to her. :-(

South Carolina to North Carolina and A Great Beach
North Topsail Beach, NC
59 deg clear, NE wind @ 6 mph.
Forecast = Today: Partly cloudy. Highs around 70°F. East wind to 10 MPH.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows around 61°F. East wind to 7 MPH.
Had a lot of rain yesterday morning. Wind too. In fact the wind was blowing so hard that Jim brought in Bobbie T's front slide so the awning over it would quit flapping and shaking the whole RV!!!
But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
Sunday morning, by around 10:00 everything was packed up and we were pulling out of the beachfront site at the Apache Family CG. On the way out of the park, we stopped at the "Trading Post" in the CG and got Bobbie T's propane tank topped off so we'd have plenty of propane when we got to Joe and Nancy's in Virginia Beach. (We'll be parked in their driveway for 8 to 10 days).
Then, just down the street from the CG, we pulled into a gas station where Jim filled Bobbie T's tank with 87 octane gas, @ $3.31 per gallon. ; ) By the time we pulled out of the station it was already 10:40, so we were really getting a late start.
In just another few blocks we came to US 17 again, where we turned NE and continued our journey North. The traffic was fairly heavy through North Myrtle Beach and around Wilmington, NC. but we made good time and soon we were turning off on NC 210, which brought us over here to the coast and to the Surf City Family CG.
It was 12:50 when we pulled up in front of the office and we had traveled just 99 miles. Yeah, it did take us 2 hours and 50 minutes, but around 40 minutes was spent stopping for propane and gas, so it actually wasn't too bad.
Yesterday, I mentioned that we had been to this CG 3 years ago when we came through here. I'd like to try to explain to you what the draw to the CG is.
First of all, I'll tell you what it isn't!!! It isn't fancy, most of the sites are quite narrow and crowded together, some of the sites aren't level, (but are not too far off), some do not have sewer connections, and you can't see the ocean from the sites.
But, as you drive into the CG, you see the large dunes that protect the CG from storms, and you see this walkway heading over them.
After registering at the office and talking to the very nice lady, (the owner), you park your RV in it's assigned site. Then, after getting set up, (or not),
it's time to take a look at what's on the other side of the dunes, so you head up the stairs/ramp.
Once to the top, this is your reward!!!
View from bottom of the steps, looking off to the right.
View to the left.
As you can see, it's a beautiful, wide beach. This is not the "tourist season" yet , but from talking to the owner in the office, and others here in the park, they all say that this beach never gets very crowded. The CG does however, fill up during the summer months, so if you decide to come here then, be sure to call ahead.
After getting Bobbie T set up in our site, Jim and Linda walked to the top of the dune and sat on the bench, just watching the ocean, for at least 1/2 hour.
Linda's a "happy camper" ; )
While Jim was registering us Sunday, he asked the owner if she could recommend a good place to go to eat, She told Jim that if he and Linda would wait to Monday, there was a Restaurant not too far from here, called Madison's that had a great buffet, and on Monday, the price for senior's was only $5.95!! She also recommended that they not go right at lunch or dinner time as the place was very popular and they would probably have to wait quite a long time.
So, about 1:30, Jim and Linda took CLG and headed over there.
Both Jim and Linda said that for a buffet, the food was very good and they really enjoyed their meals. Not long after Jim and Linda returned there was news of the tragedy up in Boston.
What a shame that people have to injure innocent people to make a point.
The rest of the day was spent getting Bobbie T ready to travel and watching TV.
While Jim and Linda were watching TV, I published a short post about my views of the Tragedy. I hope you'll take the time to read it.
Did you know that on this date in 1922 - Annie Oakley shot 100 clay targets in a row, to set a women's record?

It's Falling Together and Waiting And Waiting And Waiting
DeBary, FL.
43 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast = Today: Mostly sunny. Highs around 79°F. South wind 0 to 10 MPH, gusting to 10 MPH.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows around 57°F. Southeast wind 5 to 10 MPH.
It was about 10:00 yesterday morning when CLT took Jim and Linda over to the house. On the way over there, they stopped at a garage sale and found a few small items that they'll need at the house. CLT says that he thinks it was about 10:45 by the time they arrived at the house.
Now, of course the reason to go over to the house this early was to be there during the 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM time frame that "Rooms To Go" had told them that the delivery of the bed would be made. Like I said, this was fine with Jim and Linda because there were things that needed to be done over there anyway.
Also, Nancy, (the Community Manager), upon Jim's request, had set up a meeting with a man named "Bob" who she said would be willing to take care of the lawn during the summer and possibly do some other work around the house that will be needed while we're up North for the summer. She also said that he was very knowledgeable as to what needed to be done to the house to ready it for the summer.
Bob lives at Highland Country Estates, so about 12:45, he pulled into the driveway in his golf cart. After introductions, he, Jim and Linda sat down and talked about what needed to be done before we leave and about the normal yard work that needs to be done along with some other things that Jim and Linda would like to have Bob do during the summer.
CLT says that Bob was there for over an hour. He and Jim went all the way around the house and discussed different items that he and Jim thought needed attention.
Well, to make a long story short, Jim and Linda liked Bob and hired him to do the work. He seems very responsible and conscientious and his prices are, (Jim and Linda feel), more than fair. Jim and Linda have his phone number and e-mail address and he has theirs, so there will be some communication while we're gone.
All this is very new to Jim and Linda so they're going to have to rely on recommendations and advice of some other people. This first year will be a test and there will probably be some things that they'll change in the future. Only time will tell. ; )
OK, back to the delivery of the bed from Rooms To Go.
A little before 3:00, Jim and Linda received a phone call from Rooms To Go, saying that the delivery truck was running a little behind and it wouldn't be arriving until a little after 3:00. By 4:00 there was still no sign of the truck and Jim was just about ready to tell them to, , , , , , well, you can imagine what Jim was thinking!!
Anyway, Linda called the phone number they had for Rooms To Go and finally talked to the dispatcher who told her that "the truck was on it's way and should be there in just a few minutes."
OK, they continued to wait!!! And wait!!! And wait!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, about 5:30, the truck pulled up in front of the house!!!!! By this time, Jim and Linda had been waiting for the delivery for about 6 1/2 hours and both of them were not happy campers!! But, it didn't pay to tick the delivery people off, so they tried to be pleasant as the men unloaded the bed, brought it into the house and assembled it.
Anyway, they now have it and Linda really likes her "4 Poster Bed"!!!!! ; ) And in the end, I guess that's what's important. : )
By this time, both Jim and Linda were hungry so they headed over to Steak N Shake for a sandwich. Then came back here to Highbanks and watched TV until bedtime.
Oh, one last thing. Jim needs to find out for sure, but he and Linda heard last night the the couple in the MH parked next to us had an accident with their motorcycle yesterday. They heard that he has a lot of "road rash", and she is in the hospital over by Titusville with some broken bones, but nothing life threatening.
I'm sure Jim will find out more today and I'll be sure to let you know how they're doing. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they seem like a very nice couple.

Record Breaking Weather, Still Not Feeling Well, A.S.A.P. and Dave And Dee Dee
DeBary, FL.
37 deg. clear, N. wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast = Today: Sunny. Highs around 63°F. North northwest wind to 13 MPH.
Tonight: Clear. Lows around 43°F. Wind chill around 39°F. North wind 5 to 11 MPH.
Did you see what the temperature is down here in DeBary? Yep, that's no misprint, Jim's thermometer, which seems to be very accurate is showing 37 degrees and there's more time for the temperature to drop yet before the sun comes up!!!! I wouldn't be at all surprised if the temperature would drop another 2 or 3 degrees!!!!
Except for the record breaking low temperatures, not much else has been happening here. Linda is still not feeling well, and Jim is not yet up to full speed. Jim adjusted the air pressure in Bobbie T's tires and re-arranged things in the back of CLT.
OH, the other day, Jim noticed some water on the floor, near the tub, in Bobbie T's bathroom. he wiped it up and took off an inspection panel. He said that it looked like a water line fitting was leaking, but he couldn't see for sure. Being that it would be a big hassle to make an appointment and take Bobbie T back to LaMesa, he decided to call Jack from A.S.A.P Mobile RV Repairs, who does a lot of RV Repair work here in DeBary and the surrounding area.
Jack was very busy but he was able to come yesterday morning where he found a couple of problems. It seems as someone else has tried to find this leak and had replaced some of the pipe with improper fittings and pipe, so he changed that. He also found the real problem, which was a plastic elbow that had a pinhole leak and only leaked when it got hot from the hot water going through it to the tub/shower faucet.
Jack was very good and in no time he had the problems repaired at a very reasonable cost. He cleaned everything up and suggested that Jim leave the inspection panel off for a day or so to let everything dry out under the tub.
If you're ever in the area and need some repairs on your RV, (no engine or chassis work), give Jack a call at 386-775-7423, He's one of the "good guys" and will do good work at a very fair price. : )
Very soon, Jim and Linda are going to need to get some groceries. They're out of some of the essentials so even if Linda isn't up to it yet, Jim will probably go to the store and buy them. The laundry basket is full, so the laundry needs to be done, so they really need to go over to the house to do it.
Hopefully, Linda will be feeling a little better today, so they can get at least some of it done.
Oh!!!! Jim got an e-mail from Dave. If you remember, he and Dee Dee were heading back to Illinois and the weather forecast wasn't good at all!!! Well, they made it, but had all kinds of problems. They had snow packed roads, very heavy snow, 10" of unplowed snow once they got off of the Interstate near their home in Central Illinois, almost getting stuck with their truck and 5th wheel trailer crossing the Illinois Central RR tracks and getting the trailer backed into their driveway, (which took almost an hour).
They're safe, but they can't use their car because the trailer is blocking the driveway. There's at least 10" of snow on the ground where the trailer needs to be parked and it's uphill, and they'll have to try to dig the snow out of the truck bed so that they can get to the things that they have stored in there.
Boy!!! Am I glad I'm in Florida where the temperature is now 36 degrees!!! ; )
Did you know that the greatest snowfall in a day was 75.8 inches in Silver Lake, Colorado; April 14-15, 1921?
Woof!!!!

Woof!!!!

Warning!!!!! You may not agree with the following comments. They are the thoughts/beliefs of mine and not necessarily the thoughts/beliefs of anyone else.
On the morning news, they are reporting that there is a school up in the NE U.S (I think it was Maryland), where they have banned "hugging"!!!! It seems that the school board thinks that "hugging" is bad for the kids and could lead to other advances.
In another story, they told about a little boy who had brought cupcakes to school to give to the kids at a birthday party for him. But, there was a problem. The cupcakes had toy soldiers on them for decorations and because the toy soldiers were holding guns, the cupcakes were taken away from the little boy!!!
There have been other stories on the news where a child has gotten in trouble or even been expelled because of some stupid rule that the school came up with. Where is it going to end????? One viewer on the morning news suggested that maybe they should just close all of the schools, keep the kids at home, locked in their room, where they're sure to be safe from everything!!!
Come-on people!!!! Use some sense!!!! Let the kids be kids and let them have some fun!!!! You're taking away all of joys of childhood!!!! Not everyone who has a picture or a paper cut-out of a gun is a terrorist!!.
And hugging???? It's an act of affection!!!! Everyone needs a hug now and then.
Especially small dogs. ; )
Did you know that strawberries contain more vitamin C than oranges?
Woof!!!
