Saturday morning, Jim was planning on doing some shopping but as the day wore on, he didn't feel very good, so shopping was canceled and he spent quite a bit of time on the computer, working more on the trip plan for our return to Florida.
Yesterday, he felt quite a bit better, so he took Big RED and headed over to the ACE Hardware store where he bought some chemicals for Nora's toilet, a can of silicone spray and a few other small items. Then, it was next door to the CVS store and then on to Rural King to pick up a new pair of jeans for himself and a few other items. After he returned, he and Linda watched TV and Jim pretty much finalized the trip plan.
Now, as always, this plan is written in pencil and he still has his eraser. ;-)
Anyway, it looks like we'll be leaving Rantoul on the 12th of October. Our first stop will be to see Linda's cousin, Mike, who lives on the South side of Indianapolis, IN. From there, we'll take our time and head East to the Cincinnati area, then into WV, and finally to Virginia Beach, arriving there on or about the 19th of October.
We'll stay in VB for about a week and then head over to the Apex, NC area, where we'll stay another week or so, and then head South from there, following mostly 2 lane roads down to Florida. We'll be getting down there somewhere around the 15 of November.
Oh, did you happen to see the moon last night during the eclipse? It was kind of neat when it turned red for awhile!!! There were some reports on the news that some people were sure that "the end of the earth as we know it" was going to happen, but I guess it didn't, cause everything seems normal this morning. :-)
We had quite a few RVs come to Prairie Pines this weekend. The weather was so nice that I guess a lot of folks decided to camp one more time before the weather changes. By the time we leave here in October, the average high will be 68 deg. and the average low 43 deg.
Did you know that after the September 27/ 28, 2015 Total Lunar Eclipse, a Supermoon eclipse will not happen again for another 18 years, until October 8, 2033?

Another Week, A Little Excitement and Plans Being Made

Well, another week has gone by since my last post. Again, not much to write about, so I didn't.
We had a little excitement this last weekend. While Jim was using this computer, all of a sudden he got an e-mail saying that all of our gigabytes for the month had been used up and that they were adding an additional gigabyte, (at a cost) so that our service would not be interrupted.
Just 30 minutes before that, Jim had noticed that we still had almost 3 gigabytes left, (plenty for normal use for the rest of the time period), so something used 3 GB in less than 30 minutes!!!
Well, to make a long story short, after calling the Florida PC Doctor who had set this computer up originally and has a way to access the computer from Florida, (with Jim's permission). scanned the hard drive and checked for viruses and malware. He decided that evidently a large update had automatically downloaded and that's what caused the whole problem.
He cleaned up the hard drive, changed the settings so that wouldn't happen again, and now, we're good to go again! :-)
Whew!!! Didn't need a computer problem right now!!!
Jim and Linda have been making plans to head up to Wisconsin later on this month. Linda's brother, Glenn, and his family are getting together at a resort about 50 miles North of the Wisconsin Dells and we're planning on heading up there to see them.
Kind of like a little "Family Reunion".
We'll stay at a CG up there and then Jim and Linda will go to the resort during the days to visit with them. Being that we'll still be in the peak tourist season at that time, Jim has made a reservation at a park near where they'll be staying so that we're sure to have a site.
Ever since we've left Florida, there has been a tire on Nora, that has been losing air. Not much, but it's been bothering Jim because he felt that something just wasn't right. Well, one day he crawled under the trailer to look at the back side of the tire and he did not like what he found. :-( It seems, although this is a new trailer as of 2014, and we've never had a flat tire, there is a plug in the tire on the inside of the tread area. :-(
So, , , , , , Jim called a tire place which is North of here in Ashkum, IL. (that we've had dealings with before), asked if they had a replacement tire if necessary, and made an appointment to head up there on the day we'll be leaving here to head to Wisconsin. It'll be a little out of the way, but Jim feels he can trust the people at this place, so it'll be worth the detour and time spent to get it repaired properly or get a replacement tire.
So, the plan is to leave here on Monday, August 24th, head up to Ashkum to get the tire repaired / replaced and then continue up to Wisconsin from there. The "Family Reunion" starts on Thursday, so we'll have plenty of time to get up there. In fact, we may stay someplace around the "Dells" for a day or two, depending on how the trip goes.
After the "Reunion", we'll head back down here to Rantoul, arriving sometime before the Labor Day weekend. (Don't want to be out on the road over the Holiday). After returning here, we'll probably spend most of September here, but that part is written very lightly on the calendar in pencil, and of course, Jim still has that big eraser. ;-)

Computer Repaired!!!!

Whew!!!!! Lucked out!!!!
Friday morning, Jim called David, The Florida PC Doctor and told him that this laptop computer was still locked up. He gave Jim his home address and told him that if he could bring it to his house and give it to his wife, he would look at it as soon as he arrived home, (sometime during Friday afternoon). So, after programming the address into Tillie, (the GPS Unit), Jim and Linda hopped into Big RED and headed over to his house.
David's house is over in Enterprise, which is a small town about 8 or 10 miles from here, so even though it was all city/residential roads over there, it only took about 20 minutes to get there. David's wife was very nice and helpful and soon Big RED was on his way back to DeBary.
On the way back, they stopped by Walgreen's and picked up a prescription for Jim and a few other items before returning here to the house.
Later Friday, David called and told Jim that he had gotten the computer unlocked, but that he wanted to run a few programs on it to make sure everything was working properly and to make sure that there wasn't any virus or malware still on the computer. He said that he'd call Jim when he was finished.
Well, yesterday morning, (Saturday), he called and soon Jim and Linda were heading over there to pick up the computer. David got everything cleaned up and now it's working just fine again with no loss of data!! :-) Whew!!!!
Normally, David comes to where ever you are to repair a computer, as he really doesn't really have a shop at home. But, being that he was so busy with this problem that was going on with so many computers, he made an exception for us.
Thank you, David, for the prompt and excellent service at a reasonable price!!!

Computer Problems

The other day, just after Jim finished reading blogs and checking the news on the laptop computer, he went to shut it down and there was a message that there was an automatic update. It said that it would update automatically or he could choose to update right then.
He chose to update then.
Well, it started the update and then as the computer was updating, this normal message came up. It says "Getting Windows Ready, Don't shut off your computer". All seemed to going well, but the message just stayed there and it never went away. In other words, the computer just stopped working, right in the middle of the update!!!!
Jim tried a few things, but nothing seemed to work, so finally after about 2 hours, he called The Florida PC Doctor. Dave is the one who set the laptop up for Jim and Linda originally and he's very knowledgeable and his prices are reasonable.
Come to find out, there are many computers that are having a problem. It seems that there's a program called Panda Antivirus, (that is installed on the laptop), that had a problem and messed everything up. Dave has been working non-stop to try to fix everyone's computers, (a lot of businesses in the area included), so today, I think that Jim is going to take ours over to his house so he can work on it when he gets home.
In the meantime, the desktop computer that Linda uses was not affected because it doesn't have the Panda software, so we are still able to get on the internet. I'm having a real problem with using it though. I've almost fallen twice and it's very inconvenient for me!!
So, we're hoping that Dave can fix the laptop and that the glitch hasn't wiped out a bunch of stuff, which I understand is very possible. :-(
A Point to Ponder: Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Good Doctor's Report and Exciting Plans

Yesterday morning, Jim woke Linda up at what she calls, "The crack of dawn", so that they could get to Linda's Dr. appointment with Dr. Saferali at 8:00 AM!! :-) By 7:45 they were out of the door and Big RED was taking them over there.
Linda had the normal blood test and then she and Jim sat and waited for the test results and to talk to the Dr. When Dr. Saferali came into the room, she checked a few things and then told Linda and Jim that the test results looked good and that she was very pleased with how Linda was doing. :-)
After asking Linda some questions about how she was feeling, the subject of Linda's last Chemo treatment, next Thursday, came up. Both Jim and Linda asked her if she had any idea how long it would be after the final treatment that she thought they would be able to make plans to head up to Illinois to see doctors, take care of business and see family and friends up there?
She brought up a calendar on her computer and said that she thought that Linda and Jim should be able to travel, (If Linda was up for it), shortly after the 4th of July!!!!!!!!!! :-) :-) ;-)
Wow!!!! I really didn't expect that!!!!! I was hoping for sometime in August!!!!!
So, , , , , , , , , , , after stopping at the house and picking up a few things to bring out here to the trailer, stopping by the CG office to pay for another month and getting things brought inside, Jim got out his computer, the calendar and his big eraser and went to work!! ;-)
If, (and there's that "If" again), everything goes well and Linda doesn't get any more serious or different side effects from her last treatment, and "If" her blood counts don't do anything strange, it looks like we'd be leaving DeBary around the 12th to the 14th of July. (The rent for the site here at Highbanks runs out on the 14th). We'll take our time, with short days at first, to see how well Linda is able to travel, and even stay more than 1 night in a few campgrounds along the way so that she can rest up if necessary.
It's about 1,150 miles up there and by Jim calculations, (along with the help of "Trip Planner") we should be getting to Rantoul about 10 days later on about the 21st, 22nd or 23, of July!! ;-)
Oh, and one more thing. Dr. Saferali is setting up an appointment with Dr. Ogle to have the "port" removed before we leave too. (Linda has hated that thing since it was put in).
So, that's the new plan. Dr. Saferali doesn't see any problems and everything has already been cleared with Dr. Graham, (the radiation doctor), so unless something really out of the ordinary happens, we'll be on our way by, at least, the 14th of July!!! :-)
To celebrate, Jim and Linda took Big RED and headed over to Gram's Kitchen for dinner. ;-)

Lots Of Support and A New Laptop

Linda's had a lot of support the last few days. Family and friends have been calling to encourage her as she comes to terms with the upcoming treatments. Of course Laura has stopped over a few times and Jim has been trying to help her through this emotional time.
Dr. Molpus, the surgeon, has arranged it so that Linda will have her chemo and radiation treatments here in Orange City, at the Florida Hospital. That way, Jim and Linda won't have to make the 30 to 45 minute trip over to Daytona Beach for all those treatments during the next 9 months. Today, the Florida Hospital is supposed to call Linda to make an appointment for her to come in to a informational meeting to learn all about the treatments, the scheduling of them, and what side effects to expect.
I don't think I've mentioned it, but I have been doing this blog on the desktop computer lately because the notebook is having serious problems. Jim says he thinks it's been infected with a virus again, and it's causing it to slow way down and not even load some of the pages.
So, being that it's an old computer, "2006", that is still running Windows XP, Jim and Linda decided that a new one would be the best choice. After some research and talking to a "Computer Doctor" that has been highly recommended, they took CLT and went to Office Depot yesterday and bought a new one.
It was on sale as a "Pre-Black Friday" item and with a rebate, ended up being less than $400. :-) Of course with taxes and some software that Jim wanted, it ended up being more than that. :-(
After they left Office Depot, they headed over to the 4 B's restaurant here in DeBary. It's a restaurant that only serves breakfast and lunch and has been a "local" meeting spot for over 50 years. It's one of those places where the waitresses know most of the people by name and even brings some of them their, "usual" before they order it. ;-)
Oh, and the food is really good too!!!! :-)
Tomorrow, the "Computer Doctor" is going to come here to the house to set up the new computer and try to get all the files off of the old one and onto the new one. Then, Jim, Linda and I will have to learn all about the new Windows 8.1 operating system, so we can use it. :-0
Again, Linda, Jim and I want to thank all of you who have sent best wishes and encouragement Linda's way. The e-mails, phone calls and comments have been a great help in this time of stress. I want to assure you that Linda is doing very well and is getting stronger each day. I have great faith that she'll come through all of this with flying colors and before we know it, we'll be traveling again. :-)

Again, Linda, Jim and I want to thank all of you who have sent best wishes and encouragement Linda's way. The e-mails, phone calls and comments have been a great help in this time of stress. I want to assure you that Linda is doing very well and is getting stronger each day. I have great faith that she'll come through all of this with flying colors and before we know it, we'll be traveling again. :-)
