DeBary, FL.
62 deg. overcast, SE wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast = Considerable cloudiness. Occasional rain showers this afternoon. High 81F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Wow!!!! I can't believe that it''s been 10 days since I've last posted!!!!! But, as they say, "No news is good news". ;-)
There's been the normal things going on, like grocery shopping, going to Walgreen's and going out to eat once in awhile at places like Arby's and Gram's Kitchen.
Tuesday, Jim took Big RED to a local mechanic, (Bob Gorman's Alignment and Brake Center) and had his oil and filter's changed. They also checked him over real well and declared that he was "good to go"! :-)
Then, Tuesday afternoon, Jim and Linda too Big RED and headed over to the Used Furniture Store and purchased a nice end table and Lamp to put in the Florida Room next to the Glider.
I think I like it. It makes the Florida Room look more like a room, rather than a porch.
Yesterday morning, Laura picked up Linda and they headed over to the Mall in Sanford where they bought Linda a whole bunch of new clothes. You see, it all started when Linda was undergoing the Chemo and Radiation treatments. She didn't have much of an appetite, so she didn't eat much. Well, she lost quite a bit of weight and since then, she has been very careful about what she eats and has lost even more. So, , , , most of her clothes no longer fit!
I guess that was one of the good things that came her from being sick!!
While Linda and Laura were shopping, Jim took Big RED and headed over to the CG to check on Nora. She's doing fine over there at Paradise Lakes. From there he went to an ACE Hardware Store and bought a few things and then headed to Bob Evans for breakfast at lunchtime. (Laura and Linda ate at Cracker Barrel). From Bob Evans, Jim went to Home Depot where he bought a board for a project that he has in mind and then headed up to the Dodge Ram dealer in DeLand.
You see, Big RED has been recalled. Yep. he's been recalled for that air bag thing and they're going to have to replace some of the air bag parts. So now, he has an appointment next Tuesday at 8:00 AM to have the work done. The service manager told Jim that it would take about 3 hours to preform the work, so that'll take up most of the morning. :-(
Nothing much planned for today or this weekend. The weather guessers on TV are saying that it will start raining here this afternoon and continue until tomorrow, around noon. After that, it's supposed to be quite a bit cooler but sunny, so maybe Jim can get going on that project he's thinking about.
Oh, I wanted to share a web site with you that I found the other day. It's called Weatherbase and it gives you all the weather data for almost every city in the United States as well as many cities in other countries.
Here's the link to the site. Weatherbase
Jim says that it should be real handy when planning a trip to different parts of the country, so check it out and be sure to check the links for "features" also as there's some good info there too.
Did you know that today is "National Pie Day"?
Woof!!!!

What Are They Thinking????
Rantoul, IL.
62 deg. mostly cloudy, N. wind @ 10 mph.
Forecast = Partly cloudy, high of 77 det. Breezy with winds from the NNE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Yesterday morning, just after I posted the blog, this diesel pusher Dutch Star RV, (about 40' long, pulling a toad), came down the street in front of me from the back end of the park. I'm a little ways from the road that goes in front of the park, but when he passed in front of me, he was still going like he was late for the most important appointment of his life!!!!
In fact, I'm sure glad his brakes worked well, or he would have overshot the road and ended up in the cornfield on the other side!!!!
What the heck were these people thinking???? There are older people out walking their dogs, people going to the bath house, and even a few children in the park. If any one of them would have stepped out onto the street, there would not have been any way that the driver could have stopped that 30,000+ pounds of metal and fibreglass from running over them!!!!!
I've seen this way too many times in an RV Park or CG. People blasting around with their RVs, trucks or cars, not even considering what would happen if a child or someone stepped out onto the street. Think, people, Think!!!!! How would you feel if you ran over someone just because you were going too fast to stop in time? Is it really worth the extra minute or two that it would take you to get to your destination? Is a persons life worth saving those couple of minutes????
I think not!!!!!
To those of you that drive slowly in RV Parks and Campgrounds, I apologize for this rant. For the rest of you, I hope you think about what could happen if you don't slow down.
All day yesterday, it looked like it could rain, but the only time it rained was later in the evening and then there was another little shower overnight. Jim managed to get a little done outside. One thing that he did was to take the cover off of Bobbie T's Onan generator and spray some dry lubricant on the carburetor linkage.
You see, it was time to exercise the generator, (Jim exercises it every month), and the last time he ran it, it didn't seem to want to hold a real steady speed like it should. But, this time, after he lubricated the linkage, it ran like a charm, even when he put a good load on it. After he finished with that, he changed out the water filter and dumped the tanks.
He also spent some time talking to Ron, who owns the Newmar Mountain Aire RV off to our left. Ron and Marilyn come her for awhile almost every summer and through the last couple years, Jim has become friends with Ron. I don't think that they solved any world problems, but they do seem to enjoy visiting with each other. ; )
In the next couple days, Jim and Linda will need to purchase some "essential" groceries and go to the laundromat to wash clothes. I don't think it matters which one they do first because both things are getting to the critical stage. : )
Did you know that Calvin Coolidge, our nation's 30th president, was born on July 4th, 1872? He is the only president to claim this honor.

A New Filter For Bobbie T and A New Restaurant In Town
Rantoul, IL.
64 deg. overcast, SW wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast = Today: Partly cloudy with isolated storms. Highs around 86°F. Heat index around 90°F. South wind to 15 MPH, gusting to 24 MPH. Chance of precipitation near 45%.
Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows around 66°F. South wind to 14 MPH.
Not a real lot to report today. It's gotten real windy again so Jim hasn't spent too much time outside. He did go over to talk to Louise and Paul for awhile yesterday morning though. With the weather and the Holiday weekend, I think it had been almost a week since he had talked to them.
The other day, when Jim went to ACE Hardware, he picked up one of those in-line water filters to hook into the water hose that hooks Bobbie T up to city water. The water isn't bad here in Rantoul, (actually pretty good), but he's been wanting to get some kind of filter to get rid of that chemical taste/smell you get from many water supplies.

While he was at ACE, he also picked up some more hose connectors so that he could make up the short hose you see between the new filter and Bobbie T's water inlet.
While Jim and Linda were out and about the other day, they realized that there was a new restaurant here in Rantoul. It's over in the Shopping Plaza next to Rural King, on the East side of town, where a Chinese Buffet Restaurant used to be. It's called Family Table and last night, Jim and Linda decided to check it out.
When Jim and Linda walked in, they were surprised at how big it was inside. (seating for 200). They have both booths and tables and I'm happy to report that both Jim and Linda were quite impressed with the service and the food. : )
Jim had the Cod special, (Four huge pieces of cod, potatoes of your choice, soup or salad and either ice cream or pudding for dessert). Linda had the Spaghetti and Meatball special, (with garlic bread, choice of soup or salad and one of the above mentioned desserts).
Jim's meal was $9.99 and Linda's was $5.99. Both were very good and large enough that they brought about 1/2 of each meal back here to have at another time.
1st impressions were very good and only time and returning visits will tell how good this restaurant really is. But, the way it looks now, the Family Table is going to give the Red Wheel, (where Jim and Linda have had some not-so-good food from time to time), a run for the money.
Today, they're forecasting lots of wind again. Jim and Linda need to do some shopping though, so they may head over to Wally World.
Did you know that the longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds?
Woof!!!
